There is NO large Fish fry. Many smaller fish frys are taking place throughout the weekend. Most anglers are going to cook their own catch.

Through a recent lake study conducted by OSU, ODNR and Fenders Fish Hatchery, we have discovered that Round Lake contains an overabundance of catfish. This has resulted in a declining bluegill and perch population, as well as a decrease in the size of our largemouth bass.

In consulting with professionals, interspecies competitive feeding has been identified as a major concern. There are simply too many catfish in our lake, and they are eating anything under 7 inches. This creates a difficult and less enjoyable fishing experience for the average or novice angler, including many of our summer campers.

This is where you can help! The goal of this tournament is to reduce the catfish population through a friendly competition. When you catch a catfish over 10 inches, we are asking anglers to refrain from releasing it back into our lake. Instead, you may either eat it yourself or drop in a cooler to be cleaned and eaten by someone else.

This tournament is focused for participants at our Family Camp, However we welcome guests coming for the day to fish. All participants coming for the day MUST check in at the office and sign a liability waiver. There is no entry fee but any donations would be greatly appreciated and put towards re-stocking the lake.

Drop zones will be available for those of you who do not want to clean and eat the fish.

Prizes will be awarded for both the largest catfish and the smallest catfish caught between May 28th at 8:00 am and May 30th at 5:00 pm.
