Check-in for the Backpacking Trip will take place at Central Church of Christ, located at 17833 Gambier Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.

Join us for this new travel trip coming to Round Lake in 2021! Limited to 10 campers.

Journey to the Red River Gorge National Geological Area, located in the Daniel Boone National Forest of Kentucky. Leaving modern comforts behind, campers will carry everything with them for multi-day hikes through true backcountry. This will be an experience unlike any other! Campers will learn basic backpacking skills such as filtering water, building fires and camping in the backcountry. Practicing the "Leave No Trace" philosophy, they will engage in low-impact camping to respect the beauty of God's creation.

Through this unique trip, you will see a few of the best of Red River Gorge's 100 natural rock formations while exploring over 20 miles of beautiful trails. Red River Gorge also boasts some of the best rock climbing in the Eastern United States, and campers will have the opportunity to experience this first-hand. These are only some of the adventures in store with this new camp session!

WARNING: this is a high impact and physical week of camp.

Campers will meet at Round Lake's Wilderness Camp for check-in. They will then ride vans down to the trip site. More details will be provided at registration. For more information: contact Lyle Baker

What to expect on the trip

1) You will hike 30+ miles throughout the week.
2) There will be multiple stops to re-supply throughout the trip, meaning you will never need to carry gear for more than two days at once.
3) One day is set aside for rock climbing!
4) You will have the opportunity to shower and eat at a local campground every couple of days.
5) Campers will supply some of their gear while other items will be provided by the camp. Contact the dean for more information. A gear checklist will be sent to registered campers in March.

*SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY! Reserve your camper's spot with just a $10 deposit (with remaining tuition due no later than 3 weeks prior to the event start date)! This offer will be available for a limited time only and is subject to change at the discretion of the camp management.
